Is it true that oil filled heaters are expensive to use?? And a halogen heater is cheaper to use??

    If they are rated the same, say 1000watt, the cost will be exactly the same to run. If you wanted heat in a room for an hour or two I would say the halogen would be preferable, it would give fairly instant heat and the glow would have a feel warm factor, whereas the oil filled would take some time to get hot, and even longer for the you/the room, to feel the benefit. If the heating period is longer, both types would keep the room warm ok. You might find oil radiator is preferable in this case though, as it is more likely to have a thermostat fitted, and will regulate itself on/off to maintain the set temperature

    They can be expensive but it all comes down to the quality of the oil filled radiator and the level of insulation/draght proofing in your home. The better ones have good thermostats and will switch off for a while when they get the room up to the set temperature. Problems arise when you are not insulated and the room goes cold quickly and the rad has to come on again. Hologen heaters are on all the time so can also be dear to run. On balance a good oil filled rad is probably better.
